Telangana to Credit Rs 9,000-Cr to Farmers’ bank accounts in Nine Days Under Rythu Bharosa: CM

Hyderabad, June 30 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday announced that the Telangana government would deposit ₹9,000 crore into farmers’ bank accounts over the next nine days under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.

Releasing Rythu Bharosa assistance at a public meeting here, the Chief Minister appealed to farmers to cultivate seven high-yielding paddy varieties recommended by the state government in view of the prevailing drought conditions caused by deficient rainfall.

He said adequate funds had been earmarked for the Rythu Bharosa scheme and quality paddy seeds were being made available through Rythu Vedikas across the state.

Highlighting the government’s initiatives for the agriculture sector, Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had waived ₹20,000 crore in crop loans benefiting 25.35 lakh farmers.

He said that soon after assuming office, the government released ₹7,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme and cleared pending dues of the Civil Supplies Corporation left by the previous administration.

The Chief Minister said the government had increased assistance under Rythu Bharosa to ₹12,000 per farmer and had so far deposited ₹27,000 crore into farmers’ accounts.
Including the latest release, a total of ₹36,000 crore would have been disbursed under the scheme, he said.

Revanth Reddy claimed the state government had spent ₹1.75 lakh crore on the welfare of farmers since assuming office, including around ₹6,000 crore every month, contrasting it with what he alleged was lower expenditure by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government.

The Chief Minister also asserted that free power supply to farmers was pioneered by the Congress, recalling that former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy introduced free electricity for farmers after assuming office.

He criticised the BRS over its claims regarding the free power scheme and said the Congress government had so far spent ₹30,000 crore on free electricity for agriculture, ₹4,000 crore as bonus for fine-variety paddy and ₹3,500 crore towards farmers’ insurance.

The Chief Minister also launched a political attack on the BRS, accusing the previous government of mismanaging the agriculture sector and claiming that the Congress administration had significantly strengthened support for farmers.
