Hyderabad, May 6 (TNT): The sleuths of the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police attached to Bodhan Town Police Station in Nizamabad district allegedly while accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 from a complainant on Wednesday.
The accused officer Chitannoju Bhaskara Chari, allegedly demanded the bribe for extending an official favour by not involving the complainant’s brother’s son in a criminal case, ACB said in a release here..
The ACB stated that the officer had initially demanded ₹10,000 and later agreed to accept ₹7,000 following a request from the complainant.
The accused officer was caught red-handed at the police station while accepting the tainted amount, which was later recovered from his possession.
The ACB said the officer had accepted undue advantage and performed his public duties dishonestly and improperly.
The accused is being arrested and will be produced before the II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad.
Further investigation is underway.
