Telangana Pushes T-Fiber Rollout under BharatNet to deliver High-Speed Internet to Every Village
Hyderabad, May 27 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday discussed implementation of the T-Fiber project in the State under the Amended BharatNet Programme (ABP) during a video conference with Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
State IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu and senior officials also participated in the meeting, which focused on Telangana’s plan to provide high-speed broadband connectivity to every village and household.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister raised issues relating to speedy execution of the project, including early signing of the implementation agreement and release of pending Central funds.
Revanth Reddy also sought clarity on policy mechanisms for transfer of ring network assets from mandals to Gram Panchayats under the Digital Bharat Nidhi framework.
According to officials, the Union Minister  assured full cooperation from the Centre for implementation of the project.
The State Government has already approved formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) and is moving towards signing an agreement with the Centre for execution of the project.
Officials said Telangana is aiming to establish an integrated digital backbone connecting every Gram Panchayat through a ring architecture network model.
Under the system, connectivity services will continue uninterrupted through alternate routes even if one network path is disrupted, ensuring reliable broadband access in rural areas.
In the first phase, restoration of damaged digital infrastructure will be taken up in 3,089 villages across the erstwhile districts of Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Khammam.
Under the ABP, these villages will be connected with modern fibre infrastructure aimed at providing future-ready digital connectivity across rural Telangana.
Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister B. Ajith Reddy, IT Department Joint Secretary D. Anudeep and senior officials participated in the review meeting.
