Telangana Procuring Maize Despite Financial Burden, Says CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad, May 26 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday criticised the Union Government for not procuring maize and said the state government had launched maize procurement across Telangana despite the financial burden involved.
During a meeting with leaders of the Communist Party of India (CPI) at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said Telangana had witnessed a bumper maize crop this year and the state government decided to step in to protect farmers facing difficulties.
Revanth Reddy said the government was purchasing maize across the state despite the heavy financial implications in the interest of farmers.
A CPI delegation led by MLA K. Sambasiva Rao met the Chief Minister and thanked him for increasing minimum wages for workers.
Among those present during the meeting were CPI MLC Satyam, Pashya Padma, E. Narasimha, former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy, Bagam Hemantha Rao, Shankar, Bala Narasimha, V.S. Bose and Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy.
