Hyderabad, May 16 (TNT): Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday said that works at the Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit are progressing at a fast pace and the facility is expected to commence operations by the end of this year.
He also stated that the extension of MMTS Phase-II up to Yadadri Temple would significantly improve rail connectivity for pilgrims visiting the temple.
The Union Minister further said that a new railway station constructed near the temple town of Komuravelli Mallanna Temple would be inaugurated shortly, enabling devotees to travel conveniently by rail to the shrine.
Addressing media persons after inspecting the ongoing redevelopment works at Malakpet Railway Station and Huppuguda Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Kishan Reddy said the South Central Railway has significantly expanded railway infrastructure in Telangana.
He pointed out that while the railway budget allocation for the united Andhra Pradesh during 2014-15 was below ₹1,000 crore, Telangana alone received ₹5,454 crore in the 2026-27 Union Budget.
According to the Minister, infrastructure projects worth ₹47,984 crore, including new railway lines, doubling and tripling works, bypass lines, electrification and station redevelopment, are currently under progress in the State to ensure world-class passenger facilities and enhanced safety.

Referring to the recent Union Budget, Kishan Reddy said seven high-speed rail corridors were announced nationwide, of which three pertain to Telangana, connecting Hyderabad with Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai, thereby boosting trade, talent and technology exchange.
He also noted that five Vande Bharat Express trains and six Amrit Bharat Express trains are currently operating across Telangana.
The Minister said the Union Government is redeveloping railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and that 40 stations in Telangana have been identified for modernisation at a cost exceeding ₹2,000 crore.
Among them are Malakpet and Huppuguda railway stations, both among the oldest suburban railway stations in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Considering their importance, both stations are being redeveloped at a cost of ₹27 crore each with improved passenger amenities, including 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), lifts, escalators, ramps, waiting halls and enhanced circulating areas, he said.
Earlier, accompanied by Santosh Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Hyderabad Division; L.S.S. Rao, Chief Projects Manager, Gati Shakti; and A. Sridhar, Chief Public Relations Officer, SCR, the Union Minister inspected the progress of redevelopment works at both stations.
