Telangana Govt urges PM Modi to convene Spl review meeting dedicated to state’s proposals

Hyderabad, May 10 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite approvals for all pending development projects relating to Telangana.

The CM also requested PM to convene a special review meeting dedicated to the state’s proposals.

Addressing a programme organised at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), where multiple development projects worth Rs 9,377 Crores were inaugurated and foundation stones laid by the Prime Minister, Revanth Reddy said several key infrastructure proposals of Telangana were awaiting clearance from the Centre.

The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to allocate two hours for a special meeting on Telangana projects and approve the pending proposals expeditiously.

He said he had met Union Ministers and the Prime Minister on several occasions seeking support for important projects concerning the state.

Among the projects pending approval, he mentioned the Musi River rejuvenation project, expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail network, development of radial roads and the proposed 12-lane express highway connecting Hyderabad with Machilipatnam.

Seeking the Prime Minister’s intervention, Revanth Reddy said Telangana required active support from the Centre to accelerate infrastructure growth and economic development.

Drawing a comparison with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s support to Gujarat during Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister there, Revanth Reddy said Telangana too expected similar cooperation from the Union Government over the next decade.

“The elections across five states have concluded. We must now focus our attention on development,” the Chief Minister said.

Referring to remarks made by Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar regarding Prime Minister Modi’s “big heart and magnanimity”, Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that the Centre would support Telangana’s development aspirations.

Praising the Prime Minister’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision, the Chief Minister said Telangana was committed to partnering with the Centre in achieving the goal of transforming India into a developed nation.

He said the Telangana Government had set a target of achieving a one trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and a three trillion-dollar economy by 2047 under its “Telangana Rising” vision.

Although Telangana accounts for less than three per cent of India’s population, the state contributes nearly five per cent to the national GDP, he said, adding that the government aimed to raise this contribution to 10 per cent by 2047.

Revanth Reddy said the state government was striving to make Telangana the number one state in the country in terms of development and economic growth.

Describing the launch of projects including the PM MITRA Park and railway infrastructure initiatives as a “celebration of development”, the Chief Minister asserted that national development remained the government’s foremost priority.
