Telangana Governor Flags Off ‘Sundays on Cycle’ Rally, Calls Cycling Key to Fitness and Environmental Protection

Hyderabad, June 7 (TNT):  Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Sunday said cycling plays a crucial role in advancing the goals of the Fit India movement, promoting healthy lifestyles, and protecting the environment.

Speaking after flagging off the “Sundays on Cycle” programme at Gachibowli Stadium, organized by the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) with support from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to mark World Bicycle Day, the Governor highlighted cycling as an effective means of improving physical fitness while contributing to environmental conservation.

He urged citizens to make cycling a part of their daily routine, noting that initiatives such as “Sundays on Cycle” help raise awareness about healthy living and encourage people to adopt cycling as a regular lifestyle practice.

Shukla observed that World Bicycle Day recognizes cycling as an affordable, eco-friendly mode of transport and an effective fitness activity.

He said cycling can help reduce traffic congestion and offers a sustainable solution for creating healthier and more livable cities.

Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Vakiti Srihari, Sports Advisor Jitender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shivasena Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and SATG Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director Soni Bala Devi, among others, participated in the programme.

A large number of cycling enthusiasts, youth, and sportspersons took part in the rally.
