Telangana Governor calls upon youth to contribute to nation-building
Hyderabad, Sept 21 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday called upon citizens to give equal importance to their duties and responsibilities along with their rights and urged the youth to contribute to nation-building with patriotism, discipline and national consciousness.
Addressing the 19th National Conference of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha as chief guest at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad here, the Governor said the energy of the youth should be channelled towards the development and strengthening of the nation.
Describing MCEME as a major centre for military engineering and advanced defence technology, Shukla said it was an honour to address the national conference at the institution.
Recalling the integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union, he highlighted the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the Indian Army in the process.
The Governor appreciated the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha for its efforts over the past 25 years to promote patriotism, discipline and national consciousness and bring together ex-servicemen and patriotic citizens.
Referring to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Shukla said India was making significant progress in indigenous defence technology and production.
He stressed the need for sustained coordination among research institutions, the armed forces and the defence industry to address emerging security challenges.
He said institutions such as MCEME played an important role in imparting advanced technological skills to armed forces personnel.
“Retirement from the uniform does not mean retirement from national service,” Shukla said, adding that the discipline, leadership and experience of ex-servicemen remained valuable assets for nation-building.
He said the sacrifices of serving personnel and the families of martyrs formed the foundation of national security and called upon citizens to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat–2047.
Describing ‘Jai Hind’ as a symbol of patriotism, unity, courage and dedication, the Governor said it was more than a greeting and was inspired by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, Shukla urged citizens to “Arise, awake and move forward until the goal is achieved” and expressed hope that the spirit of national service and patriotism would grow stronger.
On the occasion, he presented Utkrishta Deshbhakti Medals to five distinguished members in recognition of their contributions.
National President of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha and Vir Chakra awardee Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi, Telangana State President Major General N Srinivasa Rao, Acharya Lokesh, founder of Vishva Shanti Kendra, Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin, Professor Neelam Pawar, Narendra Ram Nambul and Anuradha Rao, among others, were present.
