Telangana CM Urges US Ambassador to Simplify H-1B Visa Procedures
New Delhi, Aug. 5 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor to simplify H-1B visa processing, renewal and stamping procedures and ensure advance communication on changes in visa regulations to avoid inconvenience to applicants.
During a courtesy meeting with the Ambassador in New Delhi, the Chief Minister also sought an increase in the number of visas issued to students from Telangana pursuing higher education in the United States.
He requested more visa interview slots, timely appointments and faster processing of visa applications.
Revanth Reddy also raised issues faced by professionals from Telangana working in the United States and discussed the safety and welfare of students from the state studying there.
Highlighting Telangana’s investment potential, the Chief Minister invited greater investments by American companies in sectors such as Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, startups, research and advanced technologies. He said the State Government was willing to partner with US companies to promote investments in these sectors.
The Chief Minister also proposed greater collaboration between universities and educational institutions in Telangana and the United States through student exchange programmes, joint research, innovation and skill development initiatives.
He emphasised the need to strengthen cooperation between Telangana and the United States in education, employment, investment, technology and research.
Revanth Reddy noted that Telugu is among the fastest-growing Indian languages in the United States and appreciated Ambassador Sergio Gor’s understanding of India’s history and culture as well as his interest in Telangana’s traditions and heritage.
Responding to the Chief Minister’s requests, Ambassador Sergio Gor assured full cooperation in expanding trade, investment, educational partnerships, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties between Telangana and the United States.
