Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s Flight Diverted to Bengaluru due to bad weather in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 12 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was forced to alter his travel plans on Friday night after the flight carrying him from New Delhi to Hyderabad was diverted to Bengaluru due to adverse weather conditions over the city.

Tthe Chief Minister was travelling on an IndiGo flight after a two-day visit to the national capital, according to officials sources here.

The flight departed Delhi at around 7 p.m. and was scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, at about 9 p.m.

However, Air Traffic Control (ATC) did not grant landing clearance because of poor visibility and unfavourable weather conditions caused by heavy rain and strong winds in and around Hyderabad.

As a precautionary measure, the flight was diverted to Bengaluru.

Officials said Revanth Reddy would stay overnight in Bengaluru and is expected to return to Hyderabad on Saturday morning.

Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Friday evening, affecting normal life and disrupting flight operations at the airport.

The inclement weather led to delays and restrictions on aircraft landings, while several areas in the city reported waterlogging, uprooted trees and traffic congestion.

Authorities were engaged in clearing roads and restoring normal traffic movement.
