New Delhi, Apr 18 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday urged the Union Government to establish a greenfield steel plant at Bayyaram, highlighting its potential to boost industrial growth while addressing environmental concerns.
Reddy met Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H. D. Kumaraswamy and Minister of State for Steel Bhupathi Srinivasa Varma in New Delhi and discussed a range of proposals aimed at strengthening Telangana’s industrial ecosystem, an official release from CMs office said here.
The Chief Minister said the proposed “Green Steel Plant” would help bridge steel shortages and promote sustainable industrial development.
He also outlined the state’s long-term vision under the “Telangana Rising – 2047” roadmap.
Reddy requested the Centre to facilitate a steel recycling industry in Telangana using scrap from end-of-life vehicles.
He also pitched Hyderabad as a potential hub for industrial production, citing existing infrastructure, technological capabilities and favourable conditions.
He further sought support for establishing an electric vehicle battery manufacturing hub in Hyderabad, along with a green steel cluster based on hydrogen technology and expansion of manufacturing in the automobile and defence sectors.
The Chief Minister also proposed setting up a dedicated park for advanced manufacturing, including machine tools and robotics, and a national-level institution in Hyderabad to develop specialised skills for modern industries.
Reddy reiterated the state’s goal of transforming Hyderabad into a pollution-free city by 2034 and sought the Centre’s cooperation in accelerating the transition to electric mobility.
Senior officials, including Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Srinivasa Raju and Special Secretary for Coordination of Central Projects Advait Kumar Singh, were present.
