Telangana CM Revanth announces ‘Praja Balam’ programme after Sankranthi, vows to tour every village
Kodangal, Nov 7 (TNT) : Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced that the government would launch the ‘Praja Balam’ (People’s Strength) programme after Sankranthi, during which he would tour every village and interact directly with people.
Launching the Rythu Mela and Industrial Expo at Kodangal, the Chief Minister appealed to farmers to take up dry crops during the ensuing Rabi season in view of prevailing drought conditions and the anticipated El Niño impact.
He assured that the government would extend necessary support to all sections of society to tackle any possible crisis.
Amid the political confrontation with the opposition BRS over irrigation projects and river water utilisation, Revanth Reddy urged Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to convene a special two-day session of the Assembly to discuss El Niño, the Kaleshwaram project and utilisation of Godavari waters.
Challenging former Chief Minister and BRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) to attend the Assembly, Revanth Reddy said the government was prepared to present documentary evidence on alleged irregularities during the previous BRS regime.
He alleged that the previous government had abandoned the Pranhita project and changed the designs, locations and cost estimates before taking up the Kaleshwaram project.
He also questioned the circumstances surrounding the proposed CBI investigation into Kaleshwaram and accused KCR of seeking to stall the probe.
The Chief Minister alleged that the BRS government had neglected irrigation projects in the Palamuru region during its ten-year rule, leaving several projects, including Kalwakurthy, Bhima, Nettempadu, Koilsagar, Makthal, Kodangal and Narayanpet, incomplete.
In contrast, the present government was accelerating the Makthal-Narayanpet lift irrigation scheme and had enhanced compensation for farmers displaced by the project, he said.
He also referred to irrigation water supplied to farmers in Khammam district through the Devadula and Sitarama projects.
Stating that Kodangal had given him an opportunity to transform the constituency, Revanth Reddy said the government was developing it as an education and industrial hub.
The stretch from Hyderabad Airport to Kalavacharla Industrial Park would be developed on the lines of the Delhi-Noida and Mumbai-Pune industrial corridors, he said.
The government was planning to establish the RARE Education Hub and RARE Industrial Parks, promote exports of Tandur pulses and undertake additional development works worth Rs 10,000 crore in the constituency, he added.
Calling upon people to rise above political differences and participate in the development of Kodangal over the next decade, the Chief Minister said the constituency would be transformed into a model for the country.
Earlier, he interacted with progressive farmers and agricultural scientists at the Rythu Mela and Industrial Expo.
