Telangana BJP delegation to visit Jurala project, inspect water levels: Ramchander Rao
Hyderabad, Sept 21 (TNT): BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Sunday announced that a high-level party delegation led by him would visit the Jurala project on Monday to inspect water levels and assess problems being faced by farmers in downstream areas.
Addressing the media at the BJP state office here, Rao alleged that the BRS and Congress were engaged in political drama to divert public attention from genuine issues.
He questioned why cases were not being registered in connection with farmhouse disputes and alleged that the government was misusing the police force by deploying personnel around a farmhouse at Erravalli instead of using them for arrangements for the Ganesh immersion procession.
Rao condemned the arrest of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi members and demanded that permission and necessary arrangements be provided for Ganesh idol immersion in Hussain Sagar in accordance with tradition.
He also demanded that large idols, including 70-foot-tall statues, be allowed for immersion at Tank Bund instead of being diverted to backwaters.
On agriculture, Rao alleged that the PM Fasal Bima Yojana had not been implemented in Telangana since 2019 and questioned the Congress government over its failure to implement crop insurance despite its manifesto promise.
He said farmers affected by crop losses due to El Niño conditions were being left without adequate support in the absence of timely crop insurance.
Rao also urged the state government to take steps to release water from the Jurala project to protect crops in downstream areas.
He alleged that disputes among local leaders and lack of coordination were affecting farmers and called upon the Telangana government to hold talks with the Congress government in Karnataka to ensure water releases from the Almatti and Narayanpur dams.
He also claimed that the Centre, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was extending support to Telangana through infrastructure projects, railway stations, airports, bullet train proposals and foodgrain allocations.
Earlier, Rao welcomed prominent leaders from Warangal, including a retired ITDA Project Officer and a former Joint Collector-rank officer, into the BJP by presenting them with party scarves.
