Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Leaders Condole Demise of Veteran Filmmaker Bharathiraja
Hyderabad, June 10 (TNT) : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday expressed grief over the demise of veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja.
Bharathiraja, 84, one of the most influential figures in Indian cinema, passed away in Chennai following age-related ailments.
In a condolence message, Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Padma Shri awardee and recalled his immense contribution to Indian cinema as both a director and actor.
The Telangana Chief Minister said Bharathiraja had left an indelible mark on the film industry over a career spanning nearly four decades and earned recognition for directing several acclaimed and socially relevant films across different languages.
Describing his death as an irreparable loss to the film fraternity, Revanth Reddy conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and admirers of the filmmaker.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu, in a post on social media platform X, said he was deeply saddened by the demise of the legendary director. He noted that Bharathiraja had made unforgettable contributions to both the Telugu and Tamil film industries and that his passing was a significant loss to Indian cinema.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan termed Bharathiraja’s death an “irreplaceable loss” to the Indian film industry. He praised the filmmaker’s unique ability to portray rural life and human relationships with authenticity and emotional depth.
Pawan Kalyan said Bharathiraja’s timeless works, including the National Award-winning Seethakoka Chiluka and the devotional film Aaraadhana starring Chiranjeevi, would remain etched in the hearts of audiences for generations.
Tributes continued to pour in from political leaders, film personalities and fans across the country, remembering Bharathiraja’s pioneering role in transforming Indian cinema and bringing rural stories to the forefront of filmmaking.
