Telangana amends building rules for airport noise zones

Hyderabad, Apr 18 (TNT):  The Telangana government has issued orders amending building regulations to mandate sound-resistant construction in areas falling under airport noise zones.

According to G.O.Ms No. 124 issued by Special Chief Secretary to Government Jayesh Ranjan on Friday, the amendment introduces specific provisions under Rule 3(d) of the Telangana Building Rules, 2012.

The order states that all new buildings including residential, institutional, hospital and commercial structures coming up in notified airport noise zones must incorporate sound-resistant materials and design features to improve indoor environmental quality.

The amendment aligns with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and noise zone notifications approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the GO said.

The government has made it mandatory for builders and property owners to strictly adhere to prescribed noise limits while undertaking construction in such zones.

The move is aimed at ensuring better living conditions and reducing the impact of aircraft noise in urban areas surrounding airports.

The order will be published in the Telangana Gazette and implemented with immediate effect.
