Telangana ACB Books Suspended Sub-Registrar in DA Case
Hyderabad, May 20 (TNT): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, on Wednesday registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against suspended Sub-Registrar Davuluri Anand, formerly serving as Sub Registrar-II at the Hanamkonda Sub-Registrar Office in Warangal district, for allegedly amassing assets beyond his known sources of income.
According to the ACB, the official allegedly acquired properties and other assets through corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.
A case was registered under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
As part of the investigation, ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at the residences of the accused officer and his relatives.
During the raids, officials identified two residential houses valued at Rs 71.56 lakh and six open plots valued at Rs 28.37 lakh.
The agency stated that the market value of the properties was likely to be substantially higher than the officially declared value.
The searches also led to the seizure of movable assets, including cash worth Rs 24.50 lakh, bank deposits amounting to Rs 7.05 lakh, household articles valued at Rs 6.07 lakh, one four-wheeler and two motorcycles valued at Rs 13.25 lakh, along with gold ornaments weighing 819.5 grams and silver ornaments weighing 2,264.5 grams collectively valued at Rs 43.16 lakh.
The ACB estimated the total value of assets identified so far at around Rs 1.94 crore.
Officials said further verification was underway to identify additional assets and assess the extent of disproportionate wealth allegedly accumulated by the suspended official.
