Srivari Pavitrotsavams in Tirumala from August 23 TO 25
Tirumala, Aug 12 (TNT): The annual Pavitrotsavams will be held at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala from August 23 to 25.
The festivities will begin with Ankurarpanam on August 22.
As per Agama traditions, Pavitrotsavams are conducted to remove any inadvertent lapses that may occur during the daily rituals and festivals in the temple throughout the year, either due to devotees or staff, and to maintain the sanctity of the temple.
Historical records indicate that Pavitrotsavams were conducted in Tirumala during the 15th and 16th centuries. TTD revived this festival in 1962.
As part of the celebrations, Snapana Tirumanjanam will be performed in the Sampangi Prakaram of the temple from 9 am to 11 am for three days.
In the evenings, Sri Malayappa Swamy, along with Sridevi and Bhudevi, will be taken on a procession along the four Mada Streets and bless the devotees.
The main rituals includes Pavitrams Pratista on August 23, Pavitra Samarpana on August 24, and Pavitra Purnahuti on August 25.
Arjitha Sevas Cancelled
Due to Ankurarpanam on August 22, the Sahasra Deepalankara Seva has been cancelled.
From August 23 to 25, the Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Sevas remains cancelled. On August 25, Ashtadala Padapadmaradhana Seva also stays cancelled.
On August 26, the day after the Pavitrotsavams, Kalyanotsavam also remains cancelled.
