Srimad Bhagavatam a Guiding Light for Spiritual Liberation, Social Harmony: Telangana Guv
Hyderabad, June 11 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday said the Srimad Bhagavatam serves as a guiding light for devotion, knowledge, detachment and spiritual liberation.
The Governor, accompanied by his wife Janaki Shukla, participated in the “Srimad Bhagavath Katha Gyan Yagna – Amrut Mahotsav” organised by Sri Jagannath Dwara Math Khaki Akhada at Maheshwari Bhavan in Begum Bazaar here.
Addressing the gathering, Shukla urged people not only to listen to the teachings of the Bhagavatam but also to imbibe and practise them in their daily lives.
He said remembrance of the Lord’s name, service, compassion, truthfulness and righteous conduct are pathways to the welfare of both individuals and society.
The Governor observed that the Jagannath Dwara Khaki Akhada Math, with its four-century-old legacy, represents a priceless part of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
Such spiritual programmes promote social harmony, encourage a spirit of service and strengthen respect for the country’s rich cultural traditions, he said.
Shukla also lauded the services and spiritual guidance rendered by Mahamandaleshwar 1008 Shri Mahant Amrit Das Ji Khaki.
Congratulating the organisers on the successful conduct of the event, the Governor expressed hope that the Amrut Mahotsav would inspire spiritual awakening, peace, harmony and devotion among devotees.
