Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam to be Observed in Tirumala Temple on June 24
Tirumala, June 18 (TNT): The annual Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam will be observed at the hill shrine of Sri Venkateswara Temple on June 24.
The special ritual is performed every year in the month of Jyesta to commemorate the donation of the silver idol of Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy by Pallava queen Samavai Perundevi several centuries ago.
According to temple officials, the ritual will be conducted in Ekantam between 6 am and 8 am for the utsava deities.
Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy, also known as Manavala Perumal, is regarded as the Koutuka Beram of Lord Venkateswara.
The deity is a silver idol measuring about 1.5 feet in height and is believed to be an exact replica of the presiding deity, featuring four hands along with the chakra and shankha.
Temple authorities said all daily Arjita Sevas and other rituals would be conducted as usual after the completion of the Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam on the day.
