Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam Performed at Tirumala Temple
Tirumala, June 24 (TNT): The annual Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam was performed with religious fervour at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala on Wednesday.
The ritual is observed every year to commemorate the consecration of the silver idol of Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy by the Pallava queen Samavai Perundevi several centuries ago.
As part of the tradition, TTD conducts the special ceremony to the utsava deities during Ekantham between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. in the month of Jyesta.
Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy, also known as Manavala Perumal, is regarded as the Koutuka Beram of Lord Venkateswara.
The 1.5-foot-tall silver idol, featuring four hands holding the Sudarshana Chakra and Panchajanya Shankha, is believed to be a replica of the presiding deity in all aspects.
Following the completion of the Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, all daily Arjita Sevas and temple rituals were conducted as per tradition.
TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Muralikrishna, Temple Deputy Executive Officer Lokanadham, other officials and temple staff participated in the ceremony.
