Six suspicious persons detained during Ganesh festival checks in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Sept 23 (TNT): Hyderabad City police identified six suspicious persons during intensive surveillance and checking around Tank Bund as part of crime prevention measures for the Ganesh Festival Bandobust-2026, police said on Wednesday.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) M. Srinivas, 25 special crime teams of the Central Crime Station (CCS) were deployed on the instructions of the Commissioner of Police to prevent property offences and ensure the safety of the public.

The teams conducted surveillance, checking, frisking and verification of 396 suspicious persons in and around the Tank Bund area.

Of the six persons identified, four were from Mylavaram/Nuzividu in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, while two were from Hyderabad.

Police said one of the four persons from Andhra Pradesh had previous criminal history.

Police further said the four persons from Andhra Pradesh had come to Hyderabad with an alleged intention to commit property offences.

Of the two persons from Hyderabad, one was identified as a rowdy-sheeter of Lake Police Station.

Following detailed enquiry, four persons were handed over to Lake Police Station and two to Saifabad Police Station for further action, police added.
