SCR GM reviews safety, crowd management preparedness ahead of festive season
Hyderabad, Oct 5 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Monday reviewed the preparedness for crowd management at major railway stations and safety of train operations across the zone ahead of the Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath festivals.
The review meeting was held at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, in the presence of Additional General Manager Satya Prakash and Principal Heads of Departments.
Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions participated through video conference.
The General Manager directed officials to remain vigilant and ensure effective implementation of crowd management measures at major stations, with focus on smooth passenger movement across station premises, platforms and entry and exit points.
He instructed security personnel and field supervisors to take proactive measures to prevent overcrowding and directed deployment of dedicated ground operation teams comprising Travelling Ticket Examiners and Railway Protection Force personnel at major stations.
Officials were also asked to ensure that construction sites within station premises remained properly barricaded and that obstructions at entry and exit points were removed.
Srivastava directed officials to monitor passenger demand and travel patterns continuously and operate additional special trains wherever necessary to meet the expected festive rush.
Reviewing train operation safety, he stressed a structured and phased approach to addressing operational challenges and strengthening safety measures across the zone.
He called for regular safety drives and inspections of points and crossings, safety equipment and alarm systems to reinforce track safety and prevent untoward or mischievous activities.
He also emphasised regular counselling and awareness programmes for field-level and contractual staff, with particular focus on strict adherence to safety protocols at points and crossings.
