SCCL to Supply 28–32 Coal Rakes Daily to Meet Rising Power Demand: CMD

Hyderabad, July 31 (TNT): Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti on Friday directed all Area General Managers to ensure the supply of 28 to 32 rakes of quality coal every day to thermal power stations in view of the rising electricity demand across Telangana during the monsoon season.

Chairing a review meeting with General Managers of all SCCL Areas through video conference from Singareni Bhavan here, the CMD reviewed coal production, dispatch, overburden removal and coal quality.

He said uninterrupted rainfall had affected production in some opencast mines and instructed officials to take all necessary precautionary measures to achieve the prescribed production targets.

He also called for the implementation of special action plans to enhance production from underground mines during the monsoon.

Emphasising that meeting Telangana’s power requirements remained SCCL’s top priority, Dr. Jyoti said the company was currently supplying 75 to 80 per cent of its total coal production to thermal power stations to ensure uninterrupted power generation in the state.

In view of the possibility of flooding in Singareni areas along the Godavari River, the CMD directed SCCL rescue teams and officials of all departments to remain fully prepared and coordinate with the local administration to provide immediate assistance whenever required.
