CM Directs Blacktop Roads for Every Village, Gram Panchayat Buildings Across Telangana

Hyderabad, July 31 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed officials to ensure that every village in the state is connected with blacktop (tar) roads and ordered the construction of dedicated buildings for all Gram Panchayats.

Chairing a review meeting of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments here, the Chief Minister said the Gram Panchayat buildings would be constructed under A, B and C categories based on the population of each Panchayat.

He instructed Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) to closely supervise development works being executed by all departments at the mandal level and directed that Mandal Parishad meetings be held once every 45 days with the participation of MPs, MLAs and MLCs.

The meetings, he said, would help Sarpanches raise village-level issues and facilitate better coordination with officials.

Holding Panchayat Secretaries accountable for sanitation and other civic services, Revanth Reddy directed officials to strengthen cleanliness programmes in rural areas.

He also ordered the immediate release of funds for sanitation and other essential works in Gram Panchayats where elections have not been conducted due to various reasons.

Reviewing the distribution of Indiramma sarees, the Chief Minister said there should be no compromise on quality.

He directed officials to ensure that the one crore sarees being distributed to women feature attractive designs and quality colours, and suggested involving students of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in the design process.

In view of the prevailing El Niño conditions, Revanth Reddy instructed officials of the Rural Water Supply, Hyderabad Metro Water and Irrigation departments to hold a joint meeting and prepare a coordinated plan to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply across the state.

He emphasised prioritising local water sources for drinking water needs and directed that wages of personnel engaged under rural drinking water schemes be paid by the fifth of every month without fail.

CM’s Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Special Chief Secretary Dana Kishore, Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, SERP CEO Divya Devarajan and other senior officials attended the review meeting.
