SATG Launches ‘Safe Sports Telangana’ Initiative Under Sports Policy 2025
Hyderabad, July 31 (TNT): The Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) has launched the ‘Safe Sports Telangana’ initiative as part of the implementation of the state’s Sports Policy 2025, with an emphasis on creating a safe and secure sporting environment for athletes, particularly girls and women.
According to an official release issued on Friday, the initiative seeks to create awareness on safeguarding in sports and promote a culture of dignity, respect and safety across Telangana’s sports ecosystem.
The programme aims to educate young athletes on maintaining a safe sporting environment, address challenges faced by women athletes and equip them with the confidence and mental resilience to respond to difficult situations.
As part of the initiative, an awareness session was organised at Hakimpet Sports School, where UNESCO representative Shraddha Chickerur and Yuganthar representative Tejaswini Madabhushi conducted interactive sessions on safeguarding in sports, personal safety and the importance of reporting abuse and harassment.
The programme was attended by Sports Authority of Telangana Administrative Officer Anita, Hakimpet Sports School Special Officer Mamatha, faculty members and staff.
SATG said the initiative reflects its commitment to building a safe, inclusive and athlete-centric sporting environment where every player can train, compete and excel with confidence.
The awareness campaign will continue at the Gachibowli Stadium on Saturday and Monday, where coaches and sports administrators of the Sports Authority of Telangana will be sensitised on safeguarding practices and athlete welfare, the release added.
