Visakhapatnam, Aug. 1 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram on Saturday, with the Andhra Pradesh government making elaborate arrangements for the event.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who reviewed the preparations with senior officials on Friday evening, directed the administration to accord top priority to crowd and traffic management to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
Emphasising systematic monitoring, the Chief Minister instructed the police and district administration to ensure seamless vehicular movement, proper parking arrangements and orderly dispersal of the public after the event without causing inconvenience.
The Prime Minister will be accorded a traditional welcome by more than 10,000 tribal women performing the Dhimsa dance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the tribal communities of North Andhra.
Ahead of the inauguration, the airport premises have been decorated with exhibits reflecting Andhra Pradesh’s cultural traditions, including Etikoppaka toys, Bobbili Veena and traditional puppet shows.
Describing the airport as a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure development, Chandrababu Naidu said the project would accelerate the growth of North Andhra and transform the region into a major aviation and aerospace hub, generating investment and employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, the Dhimsa dance created history by entering the Guinness World Records as the largest Dhimsa dance performance, with thousands of tribal women participating under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Department at the airport premises on Friday.
The inauguration of the Bhogapuram International Airport is expected to mark a significant boost to Andhra Pradesh’s aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity.
