Revanth Reddy to seek Fadnavis’s nod for Tummidihatti barrage

Hyderabad, Oct 25 (TNT):  Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will meet his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai on Monday to seek approval for constructing the Tummidihatti barrage across the Pranahita river, a tributary of the Godavari, at a height of 152 metres.

The project is aimed at addressing the long-pending irrigation and drinking water requirements of northern Telangana.

Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and senior irrigation officials, left for Mumbai from Begumpet Airport on Sunday evening.

The meeting is scheduled for 11 am on Monday at the Sahyadri State Guest House in Mumbai.

The discussions are expected to focus on the proposed barrage and coordination between the two states for its implementation.

The Telangana government had earlier sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Jal Shakti Minister to facilitate negotiations with Maharashtra over the project.
