Police Conduct Flag March in Peddapuram Ahead of Local Body Elections

Kakinada, Oct. 16 (TNT): Peddapuram sub-divisional police conducted a flag march in Peddapuram town on Friday to reassure the public of peaceful, free and fair polling in the upcoming local body elections.

The flag march was held on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav to warn against any attempts to disrupt law and order during the election process.

Peddapuram DSP A.B.G. Tilak, who led the march, said the exercise was aimed at ensuring free, fair and impartial elections.

He urged political parties and their supporters to strictly adhere to the election code of conduct and refrain from engaging in clashes.

Offering money or liquor to voters, threatening them, or obstructing them from exercising their voting rights were offences under the law, he said, warning that stringent action would be taken against those responsible for law-and-order violations.

The DSP appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in ensuring peaceful elections and asked them to dial 112 to report violations of the election code of conduct.

Peddapuram Circle Inspector Y.R.K. Srinivas, Sub-Inspector Paparao, other sub-divisional officials, police personnel and special armed police participated in the flag march.
