PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy Congratulate Vijay on Taking Oath as Tamil Nadu CM

Chennai, May 10 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated C. Joseph Vijay after he took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Extending his best wishes to Vijay for his tenure ahead, Modi said the Centre would continue to work closely with the Tamil Nadu Government for the welfare of the people.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “The Central Government will keep working with the Tamil Nadu Government to improve the lives of people.”

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who attended the swearing-in ceremony in Chennai, also extended his greetings to Vijay.

Describing the Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government as a symbol of political change, Rahul Gandhi said, “A new generation. A new voice. A new imagination.”

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also congratulated Vijay after the oath-taking ceremony.

In a message posted on X, Revanth Reddy said he was happy to witness Vijay assume office in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and expressed confidence that the new Chief Minister would work for the welfare of the poor, ensure justice for all sections and lead Tamil Nadu towards greater development.

“Hearty congratulations and best wishes,” Revanth Reddy said in his message addressed to Vijay.

The congratulatory message assumes significance amid growing political attention surrounding Vijay’s transition from cinema into active politics through his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

AIPTMMK founder V. K. Sasikala also extended greetings to Vijay and expressed hope that the new government would provide people-centric governance inspired by the legacy of former Chief Ministers M. G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa.

Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and Biju Janata Dal president Naveen Patnaik congratulated Vijay and expressed confidence that Tamil Nadu would scale new heights of development under his leadership.

“I wish, under your leadership, the state reaches new heights of development with the support of the people of the state. Best wishes,” Patnaik said in a post on X.

Several actors, directors and members of the film industry also congratulated Vijay on social media, describing his rise from cinema superstar to Chief Minister as unprecedented in recent Tamil Nadu politics.

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan, in a post in Tamil on X, congratulated “his brother” Vijay and expressed hope that the state would progress further and achieve new milestones under the new government.
