Hardoi (UP), Apr 29 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the 594-km-long access-controlled Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, describing it as a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure and economic development.
Addressing the gathering, Modi said the expressway, one of the country’s longest greenfield corridors will significantly enhance connectivity across western, central and eastern Uttar Pradesh, benefiting millions of people across multiple districts.
He highlighted that the project was completed in less than five years, calling it a reflection of the government’s accelerated pace in infrastructure development.
The Prime Minister said the expressway would serve as a key driver of economic growth by improving access to markets for farmers, boosting logistics efficiency and attracting industrial investments along the corridor.
He noted that districts along the route are being developed as industrial hubs, with opportunities in sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, leather and handicrafts.
Emphasising its broader impact, Modi said the expressway would connect agricultural regions to major commercial centres and bring them closer to the National Capital Region, thereby opening new avenues for trade and employment.
He also underlined the role of improved connectivity in supporting small industries and MSMEs, stating that better infrastructure would help local products reach domestic and global markets, enhancing income levels.
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s transformation, the Prime Minister said the state is progressing towards becoming a one trillion-dollar economy, supported by infrastructure expansion, industrial growth and a strong workforce.
The Ganga Expressway is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening regional connectivity, boosting tourism, and accelerating economic activity across the state.
