PM inaugurates redeveloped Hi-Tech City Rly Station under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Hyderabad, July 17 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the redeveloped Hi-Tech City Railway Station in Hyderabad through video conferencing as part of the inauguration of 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The inauguration was held from Jalandhar Railway Station in Punjab, where the Prime Minister launched development projects worth ₹25,000 crore across Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh attended the event.

A parallel programme was held at Hi-Tech City Railway Station in Hyderabad, attended by MLC A.V.N. Reddy, State BJP President N Ramchander Rao, South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Secunderabad Divisional Railway Manager R. Gopalakrishnan and other railway officials.

Addressing the gathering, A.V.N. Reddy said railway infrastructure in Telangana has witnessed significant progress and projects worth over ₹40,000 crore are currently under execution in the state. He said the Centre has been giving priority to improving rail, road and air connectivity while modernising railway infrastructure to benefit passengers.

Srivastava said the redeveloped Hi-Tech City station is among the 75 Amrit Bharat stations inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

He said the station has been upgraded with a new station building, improved waiting halls, enhanced passenger amenities, lifts, escalators, modern signage and facilities for Divyangjan passengers.

He added that redevelopment works at other stations in Telangana are progressing as scheduled and highlighted the state’s rapid railway infrastructure expansion, electrification and passenger amenity improvements.

During the programme, prizes were distributed to winners of essay writing, drawing and painting competitions conducted in six schools in the twin cities on the themes “How will a developed Railway Station in my City look like?” and “What will I do to help build a Developed India?”. Winners of a selfie competition organised to mark the transformation of the Hi-Tech City Amrit Station were also felicitated. Cultural performances were presented as part of the celebrations.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister also flagged off India’s first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana, describing it as a milestone for green mobility and a successful example of the Make in India initiative.
