PM Greets Nation on Global Tiger Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Tiger Conservation
New Delhi, July 29 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to wildlife enthusiasts on the occasion of Global Tiger Day, highlighting India’s achievements in tiger conservation and reaffirming the government’s commitment to protecting the big cats through science-based conservation and community participation.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said India is proud to be home to nearly 70 per cent of the world’s tiger population, attributing the country’s conservation success to its centuries-old tradition of living in harmony with nature and the collective efforts of its people.
He said the government remains committed to strengthening tiger conservation through science-based conservation practices, community participation and sustainable development.
The Prime Minister also lauded the contributions of forest personnel, scientists and conservationists, saying their dedication has played a crucial role in protecting tigers across the country.
Modi further reiterated the government’s resolve to empower local communities and reduce human-wildlife conflict as part of its long-term conservation strategy.
“Greetings to all wildlife enthusiasts on Global Tiger Day. The people of India are proud of the fact that we are home to almost 70% of the global tiger population,” the Prime Minister added.
