Over 3,200 children to participate in Telangana Regional Prodigy Championship
Hyderabad, July 10 (TNT): More than 3,200 students aged between four and 14 years from across Telangana will participate in the 22nd Telangana Regional Prodigy Championship 2026, to be held at Classic Convention Three, Shamshabad in the city, on July 12.
Organised by SIP Abacus, a children’s skill development organisation and a six-time Limca Book of Records holder, the championship will showcase the participants’ abilities in mental arithmetic, concentration, memory, visualisation, speed, accuracy and mental agility.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Telangana Housing Department Special Secretary V.P. Gautham and ARCA Global International School Principal Pannuru Prabhakar will attend the event as chief guests.
A key highlight of the championship will be the Concentration Round, in which participants will solve mental arithmetic problems while loud music is played in the background.
Children will be encouraged to sing, dance and move while continuing to perform complex calculations, testing their ability to maintain focus and accuracy despite distractions.
According to the organisers, the exercise is designed to demonstrate that concentration can be developed through systematic training and that children can perform effectively even in distracting environments.
The competition will feature children, some as young as five years old, demonstrating rapid mental calculations without the use of calculators, paper or electronic devices.
Many participants, trained through SIP Abacus programmes, are known for their ability to solve complex arithmetic problems with speed and accuracy.
The Regional Prodigy Championship, SIP Abacus’s flagship annual event, provides a platform for students to showcase cognitive skills developed through years of mental mathematics and abacus training.
The championship is expected to attract a large number of students, parents, educators and child development experts from across the state.
