Over 1,100 women take part in Hyderabad night run
The event featured three categories — 10K timed run, 5K timed run and 5K fun run — attracting women from different age groups and fitness levels. Several participants ran in sarees, adding a traditional touch to the event.
As part of the Society’s ‘Gift a Run’ initiative, complimentary registrations were provided to women from NGOs, including SABA, to encourage wider participation.
More than 180 women also completed the 5K graduation run under the Society’s six-week Women’s Couch25K training programme.
Seventeen women mentors who guided the participants were felicitated on the occasion.
The event also featured a ‘Run in Saree, Win Big’ contest presented by Mandir, with gift vouchers worth a total of Rs 2.5 lakh for participants wearing traditional attire.
Hyderabad Runners Society president Arun Kumar said the event aimed to encourage women to prioritise their physical and mental well-being, build confidence and adopt an active lifestyle.
He said the initiative celebrated women’s contribution to society and sought to promote a safer and more inclusive running culture in Hyderabad.
