IndiGo to shift 12 daily international departures to Navi Mumbai airport from Feb 2027

Mumbai, Oct 25 (TNT):  IndiGo will begin international flight operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) in February 2027 and progressively shift 12 daily international departures from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), as part of a phased expansion plan announced jointly with Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL).

The transition, to be implemented between February and July 2027, will cover services to Bahrain, Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Kuwait, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, Dhaka and Jakarta, the airport said in a release on Sunday.

IndiGo will also introduce a daily service to Kathmandu, taking its international network from NMIA to 12 destinations.

The airline will also shift the domestic connectivity required to support the international services to NMIA, enabling passengers to connect between domestic and international flights at the new airport.

IndiGo and AAHL said they were working together to put in place the infrastructure required for seamless transfers between domestic and international services at NMIA, which the airline plans to develop as a long-term international hub.

The transfer of operations is also expected to create capacity at CSMIA for IndiGo to introduce new international services across Asia, Africa and Europe in 2027, using its expanding fleet of A320/A321 aircraft and A321XLRs.

The capacity transition will also support the planned redevelopment of Terminal 1 at CSMIA by 2030.

IndiGo and AAHL said any further adjustments to the airline’s services at Terminal 1 required for the redevelopment would be accommodated at Terminal 2.

The companies said the phased reallocation of capacity across Mumbai’s two airports was intended to facilitate an orderly transition, minimise operational disruption and provide greater planning certainty for airlines and passengers.

IndiGo will announce the final dates for shifting services to NMIA and introducing new services at CSMIA after completing project coordination and securing the necessary operating approvals.

The expansion is expected to strengthen international connectivity from NMIA while enabling further growth at CSMIA, improving access to domestic and overseas destinations for passengers across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
