North Andhra Emerging Investment Hub, Says AP CM Naidu After Launching Rs. 5,400 Cr ReNew Projects

Anakapalli, Apr 23 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said North Andhra is witnessing rapid industrial growth and attracting investments on a daily basis, expressing confidence that Anakapalli district would soon emerge as a major investment hub on the lines of Rangareddy district in Telangana.

Naidu was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for two renewable energy projects of ReNew Energy Global at Rambilli in Anakapalli district, involving a total investment of ₹5,400 crore.

The projects include a 6.5 GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing unit to be set up at a cost of ₹4,200 crore and a 125 MW hybrid captive renewable power project with an investment of ₹1,200 crore.

Both projects are expected to be completed within two years and generate employment for around 2,100 people.

Naidu said the State government is promoting renewable energy as part of nation-building efforts and is bearing the burden of electricity costs without passing it on to consumers.

He reiterated that efforts are being made to reduce power tariffs while expanding energy capacity.

Highlighting the State’s renewable energy goals, he said Andhra Pradesh aims to produce 160 GW of green energy, adding that projects for over 90 GW are already under implementation.

Inviting national and international investors to invest in the State, he assured them of full support and a business-friendly environment.

He said more than 800 MoUs have been signed in the past 22 months and are being actively pursued.

He also announced that a major data centre project backed by Google with an investment of $15 billion will be launched on April 28, while the Bhogapuram airport is expected to be operational by July.

Criticising the previous government’s handling of the power sector, the Chief Minister said certain decisions had imposed a heavy financial burden on the State.

He added that his government is taking corrective steps, including absorbing significant costs, to ensure that electricity tariffs are not increased.

Emphasising balanced regional development, Naidu said the government is focused on creating local employment opportunities so that people need not migrate in search of jobs.
