NCH clarifies rules on practice of other medical systems by homoeopathic practitioners
New Delhi, Aug 14 (TNT): The National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) on Friday clarified that homoeopathic practitioners are prohibited from practising any other system of medicine, while highlighting an exception for practitioners working under specified government health programmes after undergoing prescribed training.
As per Regulation 36(y) of the National Commission for Homoeopathy (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Code of Ethics for Practitioners of Homoeopathy) Regulations, 2022, a homoeopathic practitioner shall not practise any system of medicine other than Homoeopathy.
However, the proviso to the regulation states that the restriction does not prevent a homoeopathic medical practitioner from practising under a National Health Programme or any other programme run by the Central or State Government, provided the practitioner has undergone training or a course recognised or prescribed by the competent authority.
The Commission also referred to Sub-regulation (7) of Regulation 14 of the National Commission for Homoeopathy (Homoeopathy Graduate Degree Course-Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) Regulations, 2022, which recognises the role of homoeopathic medical graduates in government health facilities and National Health Programmes.
The NCH said the clarification was issued to ensure that Regulation 36(y), including its proviso, is understood and reported accurately and in its proper regulatory context.
