Modi First PM directly elected by People to complete 12 Continuous Years in Office: Telangana BJP Chief
Hyderabad, May 27 (TNT): Telangana State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created history as the first Prime Minister in independent India to be directly elected by the people and complete 12 continuous years in office.
Addressing the media after a party joining programme at the BJP State headquarters here, the Telangana BJP chief said Modi’s leadership had transformed India into the world’s fastest-growing major economy and was steering the country towards the goal of “Viksit Bharat”.
Rao said that although Jawaharlal Nehru was the country’s first Prime Minister, he was not directly elected by the people but assumed office after being appointed.
Expressing confidence that Modi would return to power again, he said the Prime Minister’s 12-year tenure represented a phase of transparent governance and rapid national development.
Highlighting the Centre’s welfare and economic initiatives, the BJP leader referred to schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
He said India had also made major advances in defence manufacturing under the “Make in India” initiative and had reached a stage where it could manufacture fighter aircraft and advanced weapons domestically.
Rao alleged that previous Congress-led governments were marked by corruption scandals, whereas Modi’s tenure had delivered corruption-free governance.
Earlier, several prominent personalities from the Huzurnagar constituency joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of the Telangana BJP president at the party headquarters.
Among those who joined the party was former IRS officer Sudhakar Reddy, who had taken voluntary retirement after serving as Assistant Commissioner in the Central Excise, Customs and GST departments.
He was welcomed into the party by Ramchander Rao with the traditional saffron scarf.
Several leaders from Hanumanthulagudem and Tallamallapuram villages in Mattampally mandal and the Huzurnagar-Suryapet region also joined the BJP.
The programme was attended by BJP State General Secretary Gautam Rao, BJP SC Morcha National Secretary S. Kumar, State Chief Spokesperson N. V. Subhash, SC Morcha State President Krantikiran and other party leaders.
The BJP leaders also paid tributes to Ramabai Ambedkar on her 91st death anniversary at the BJP State office and recalled her contributions and sacrifices in the life of B. R. Ambedkar.
