Minister Lokesh reviews arrangements for PM Modi’s Bhogapuram airport inauguration

Bhogapuram (Vizianagaram), July 24 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, Information Technology and Electronics Nara Lokesh on Friday reviewed the arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram on August 1 and directed officials to ensure the event is organised on a massive scale.

After inspecting the airport premises, Lokesh held a review meeting with public representatives and senior officials and said around three lakh people from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli and Parvathipuram Manyam districts were expected to attend the airport inauguration and the Prime Minister’s public meeting.

He instructed officials to make comprehensive arrangements for the large gathering and asked leaders of the ruling alliance to work in coordination for the successful conduct of the programme.

The Minister said about 13,000 artistes would participate in a Dhimsa tribal dance performance planned to welcome the Prime Minister.

To facilitate the movement of participants, around 5,000 buses would be deployed from 36 Assembly constituencies. Lokesh directed mandal-level liaison officers to supervise transportation arrangements and ensure the safe movement of participants.

He also instructed officials to provide adequate drinking water, breakfast and lunch to those attending the programme.

Airport Inauguration Arrangements Committee Chief Officer M.T. Krishna Babu said one LED screen would be installed for every 5,000 attendees to enable them to view the Prime Minister’s address.

He said senior IAS officers, Joint Collectors and Municipal Commissioners were monitoring the arrangements.

Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha, K. Atchannaidu and Kondapalli Srinivas, BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav, TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao, MPs, MLAs and senior civil and police officials attended the review meeting.
