Hyderabad, May 2 (TNT) : Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Saturday said the medical profession is not merely a means of livelihood but a sacred commitment to serve humanity, urging doctors to combine knowledge with compassion and empathy.
Addressing students as the chief guest at the 175th convocation of Osmania Medical College, the Governor said the institution has built a distinguished legacy of producing skilled and dedicated medical professionals for the country.
Congratulating the graduating students, he said their success reflected years of hard work and dedication.
He highlighted the growing role of technology and research in the evolving healthcare sector but cautioned that the human touch in medical practice must not be lost.
The trust placed by patients in doctors, he said, remains their greatest strength.
The Governor also acknowledged the role of parents and faculty, stating that their support and sacrifices were crucial in shaping students into competent professionals.
Calling upon young doctors to uphold ethical values in all fields—from rural healthcare to advanced research—he urged them to contribute meaningfully to society.
Expressing confidence in the future of the institution, he said Osmania Medical College would continue to scale greater heights and wished the graduates success in their careers.
Earlier, the Governor conferred degrees on students who completed their medical education.
State Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, Special Chief Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, Vice-Chancellor K. Ramesh Reddy, Director of Medical Education Narender Kumar, Principal Raja Rao, and other officials were present on the occasion.
