Kishan Reddy Inaugurates Komuravelli Punyakshetram Railway Station
Hyderabad, July 26 (TNT): Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday inaugurated the newly developed Komuravelli Punyakshetram Railway Station on the Manoharabad–Siddipet railway line, enhancing connectivity for pilgrims visiting the famous Komuravelli Mallanna Temple.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Medak MP Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao, MLCs, MLA Dr. Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and other public representatives attended the inauguration along with South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and officials.
Before the inauguration, dignitaries and participants observed a two-minute silence in homage to the Kargil warriors.
The newly inaugurated station, developed at a cost of around ₹6 crore, is expected to significantly improve rail connectivity for devotees visiting Komuravelli Mallanna Temple.
The station will also benefit employees, students and short-distance travellers while promoting religious tourism and socio-economic growth in the region.
The inaugural ceremony also witnessed the flagging off of Train No. 77654 Siddipet–Secunderabad DEMU from the new station, marking the beginning of enhanced rail mobility in the area.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the railway budget allocation for Telangana for 2026-27 stood at ₹5,454 crore, which he described as significantly higher compared to previous years.
He said ongoing projects, including the Regional Ring Rail Project, high-speed rail initiatives, new railway lines, doubling and third-line works, would strengthen connectivity and contribute to economic growth.
Kishan Reddy highlighted the importance of the new station for pilgrims and regional development.
He said railway infrastructure projects, including redevelopment of major stations, introduction of Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains, and high-speed rail projects, would create employment opportunities and support the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
He also advised railway authorities to develop the Komuravelli Punyakshetram station with additional platforms and facilities and suggested introducing shuttle bus services between the station and the temple for the convenience of passengers.
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said the redeveloped station has a new building with modern amenities, including a waiting hall, platform shelters and facilities for Divyangjan passengers.
