Kakinada SP Leads ‘Fit India’ Cycle Drive, Promotes Health and Environmental Awareness
Kakinada, June 7 (TNT): The Kakinada District Police on Sunday organised cycling rallies across the district under the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ programme as part of the Fit India Cycle Drive, drawing enthusiastic participation from police personnel and members of the public.
In Kakinada city, Superintendent of Police Garikipati Bindu Madhav personally led the rally, cycling alongside police officers and personnel from various wings of the department.
The event witnessed participation from people belonging to different age groups and walks of life, reflecting growing public interest in fitness and healthy living.
Addressing participants at the inaugural programme, SP Bindu Madhav said cycling serves a dual purpose by improving physical fitness and helping reduce environmental pollution.
He encouraged citizens, particularly the youth, to incorporate cycling into their daily routine and make it a lifelong habit.
“Regular cycling not only promotes good health but also contributes to environmental protection by reducing dependence on motor vehicles,” he said.
Among those who participated in the Kakinada rally were Sub-Divisional Police Officer Devaraj Manish Patil, Special Branch DSP K.V.V. Satyanarayana, Reserve Inspector R. Narasimhamurty, DCRB Circle Inspector V. Srinivasa Rao and several Circle Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors from different police stations.
Similar cycling rallies were organised across the district, including in the Peddapuram Police Sub-Division under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer A.B.G. Tilak.
Large numbers of police personnel and local youth participated in events held at Peddapuram and Samalkot. Officials who took part included Samalkot Circle Inspector Alla Krishna Bhagavan, Sub-Inspectors Murty, Garaga Rao and Raja, Peddapuram Circle Inspector Ankababu, Sub-Inspector Mounika, Prathipadu Circle Inspector B. Surya Apparao, Sub-Inspector S. Lakshmikantham and Jaggampeta Sub-Inspector Raghunatha Rao.
Police officials said the programme successfully created awareness about physical fitness, healthy lifestyles and the importance of environmental conservation through sustainable modes of transport such as cycling.
The rallies were organised as part of the broader Fit India Movement aimed at encouraging citizens to adopt active lifestyles and improve overall well-being.
