JC Flags Off Yogandhra-2026 Rally in Kakinada, Calls for Daily Yoga Practice

Kakinada, June 7 (TNT): Joint Collector Apurva Bharat on Sunday flagged off the Yogandhra-2026 rally in Kakinada and urged people to make yoga a part of their daily routine to maintain good health and build a physically and mentally strong society.

The rally, organised as part of the state’s preparations for International Yoga Day, commenced at the Collectorate and passed through major streets of the city, with the Joint Collector leading the participants.

Later, he attended the inaugural session of Yogandhra-2026 held at Three Lights Junction in Raja Tank under the joint auspices of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation and the district branch of the AYUSH Department.

Addressing the gathering, Apurva Bharat administered a pledge to yoga trainers, trainees and members of the public, urging them to work towards building a healthy Andhra Pradesh through the Yogandhra movement.

He said yoga has been an integral part of Indian culture and tradition for centuries and plays a vital role in promoting both physical fitness and mental well-being.

“A healthy society is essential for achieving all-round development. With this objective, the state government is organising Yogandhra-2026 as a mass movement from June 7 to June 21,” he said.

The Joint Collector emphasized that regular yoga practice contributes to improved health, mental clarity and overall quality of life, and encouraged people from all sections of society to participate actively in the campaign.

As part of the programme, yoga experts Raghavananda, Chitturu Chittibabu, Sudha and Brahmakumari Didi Ganga conducted training sessions on yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation. They also explained the health benefits associated with various yogic practices.

Kakinada Municipal Commissioner N.V.V. Satyanarayana, District AYUSH Officer Dr. M. Shehajadi Ali, Municipal Health Officer Dr. D. Prudhwicharan and other officials attended the programme.

The Yogandhra-2026 initiative is being conducted across Andhra Pradesh to promote awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage widespread participation ahead of International Yoga Day on June 21.
