Kakinada civic body launches special sanitation drive
Kakinada, Oct 3 (TNT): Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner N.V.V. Satyanarayana on Saturday launched a special sanitation drive in the city and warned that sanitation staff at all levels would be held responsible if the situation did not improve.
The Commissioner reviewed the sanitation situation at a special meeting with sanitation inspectors and sanitation secretaries of various secretariats at the Corporation office here.
He discussed cleanliness of drains, prevention of water stagnation, door-to-door garbage collection and maintenance of garbage compactors and issued instructions to the sanitation staff.
Satyanarayana directed the staff to coordinate with local community leaders and personally attend to drain clearance works to improve sanitation.
He instructed them to submit daily progress reports and directed officials to remove stagnant water using jetting machines and create temporary earthen drains wherever necessary.
The Commissioner warned that sanitation secretaries concerned would be held responsible if garbage accumulated at compactors.
He said every sanitation inspector and secretary would be held accountable for poor sanitation in their respective jurisdictions.
Superintendent Ramasastry, Sanitation Supervisor Rambabu and sanitation inspectors attended the meeting.
