Jana Sena Secures Rajya Sabha Seat as NDA Finalises Allocation in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada, June 4(TNT): The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Thursday allocated one of the four Rajya Sabha seats from Andhra Pradesh to the Jana Sena Party during a coordination meeting of alliance partners held at the residence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The meeting, chaired by Naidu, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party President Pawan Kalyan, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, BJP State President P. V. N. Madhav and TDP State President Palla Srinivasa Rao.

The leaders reviewed various issues, including the NDA government’s two years in office in the state.

According to the Jana Sena Party, the allocation of the Rajya Sabha seat is in line with an understanding reached among NDA partners during discussions held ahead of the 2024 General Elections.

The party stated that it had been agreed that three Rajya Sabha seats arising from Andhra Pradesh between 2024 and 2029 would be allotted to Jana Sena, taking into account the party’s decision to forgo certain Lok Sabha seats during the alliance’s seat-sharing exercise.

With the Election Commission issuing a notification for four Rajya Sabha vacancies from Andhra Pradesh, the NDA leadership finalised the distribution of seats at Thursday’s meeting, granting one seat to Jana Sena in the current round.

The party said the candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat would be decided by Pawan Kalyan, following which an official announcement would be made.

The development marks Jana Sena’s first Rajya Sabha representation under the seat-sharing arrangement agreed upon within the NDA alliance.
