Interstate hashish oil network busted in Hyderabad, seize Rs 1.75 Cr worth drug, two held
Hyderabad, Aug 22 (TNT): Telangana Police have busted an interstate hashish oil transportation network and seized 14.2 kg of the narcotic substance worth an estimated Rs 1.75 crore, arresting two persons in connection with the case, police said on Saturday.
The LB Nagar Special Operations Team (SOT), in coordination with Nagole police, intercepted a motorcycle at Gowrelly X Road in Nagole on August 21 and apprehended the two accused, Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi said at a press conference here.
The arrested persons were identified as Thalle Nagaraju (30) and Nagula Narayana alias Kiran (39), both from Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh, she said.
Police recovered seven packets of hashish oil from each accused, totalling 14 packets weighing around 14.2 kg. Two mobile phones, the motorcycle and Rs 2,500 in cash were also seized.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that Tamara Gopal of Malkangiri district in Odisha had handed over two bags containing around 7 kg of hashish oil each for transportation to Hyderabad.
Gopal allegedly offered Rs 1 lakh each to the two accused for transporting and delivering the drug in Hyderabad, police said.
The accused reportedly travelled towards Hyderabad through village roads to avoid police checks and were to receive details of the intended recipient after reaching the city, she said.
Police said the two accused were also allegedly involved in the transportation and supply of prohibited narcotic substances, including ganja and hashish oil, through Gopal, who is currently absconding.
A case has been registered at Nagole Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and further investigation is underway to trace the absconding supplier and identify the intended delivery network, police said.
Nagaraju was previously involved in a 10-kg ganja case registered at Golugonda police station, while Narayana was earlier booked in a 140-kg ganja case registered at S Kota police station in Vizianagaram district, police added.
