Indian, US Navies to Hold EOD Exercise in Kochi from August 10

Kochi, Aug 9 (TNT): The Indian Navy and the US Navy will conduct a five-day Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Exercise at the Southern Naval Command here from August 10 to 14, aimed at enhancing interoperability and strengthening professional cooperation between specialist diving and EOD teams of the two navies.

The bilateral exercise will feature Subject Matter Expert Exchanges, cross-training, equipment demonstrations and scenario-based practical exercises, providing personnel of both navies an opportunity to exchange contemporary EOD methodologies, emerging technologies and operational best practices, a defence release said on Sunday.

The exercise will also facilitate greater understanding of each other’s capabilities, operational concepts and employment philosophies while enabling the participating personnel to refine procedures and improve their ability to respond to complex and evolving EOD challenges.

The engagement is expected to promote collaborative learning and operational synergy between the two navies, while strengthening mutual understanding in specialised maritime operations.

The Indian Navy and US Navy have been conducting joint Salvage and EOD exercises since 2005. The forthcoming engagement will be the eighth edition of the specialised bilateral training exercise.

The exercise underscores the continued commitment of the two navies towards enhancing interoperability, sharing operational expertise and strengthening cooperation in specialised maritime operations.
