IIIT Hyderabad Holds 25th Convocation, Awards Degrees to 526 Students

Hyderabad, July 11 (TNT): The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) on Saturday awarded degrees to 526 students at its 25th convocation, marking another milestone in the institute’s growth as a research-driven institution.

The graduating batch comprised 166 undergraduate, 303 postgraduate and 57 MSIT students. Programme-wise, the institute awarded degrees to 95 B.Tech, 71 B.Tech (Honours), 101 Dual Degree, 47 M.S. by Research, 137 M.Tech, 18 Ph.D. and 57 MSIT graduates.

B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) student Maddireddy Kritin received the IIIT Hyderabad Gold Medal for academic excellence, while Abhinav Digambar Raundhal was presented the Best All-Rounder Award.

Addressing the convocation virtually, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood urged the graduating students to ensure that innovation benefits every section of society and called upon them to pursue responsible and inclusive technological development.

IIIT Hyderabad Governing Council Chairman Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala said nearly one-third of the graduating students were women and highlighted the institute’s continued focus on research, academic excellence and technology development for societal applications.

Director Prof. Sandeep Shukla said the institute remained committed to nurturing graduates with strong technical expertise and a research-oriented approach.

He said more than 31 per cent of this year’s graduates earned their degrees through thesis-based work, reflecting IIIT Hyderabad’s emphasis on undergraduate research.

The institute said 119 companies registered for campus placements during the academic year, of which 59 made recruitment offers.

Highlighting research output, IIIT Hyderabad said its faculty and researchers produced 371 scholarly publications and intellectual property outputs since 2025, including 22 patents, 265 conference papers, 101 journal articles, four book chapters and one authored book.

The institute also secured over 55 sponsored research projects during the year.

According to the institute, its executive education programmes have trained more than 4,500 professionals over the past eight years, while its alumni network has grown to over 8,200 graduates.

Corporate partners and alumni continue to support scholarships and financial assistance for students through various initiatives.
