IIHP Chennai Marks World Homoeopathy Day with Free Medical Camp for Elderly

Chennai, Apr  20 (TNT):The Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians (IIHP), Tamil Nadu–Chennai branch, in collaboration with Venkateswara Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Porur, commemorated the 271st birth anniversary of Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy, by organising a service-oriented programme and free medical camp for senior citizens recently.

The event was held at the Kakkum Karangal Old Age Home in Thiruvanmiyur, where dignitaries paid floral tributes to Dr. Hahnemann and reflected on his contributions to alternative medicine.

Dr. Kolli Raju, President of IIHP Tamil Nadu/Chennai, presided over the function.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. N. R. Jaya Kumar, President of the Tamil Nadu Homoeopathic Medical Council, while Dr. G. Nagendra Babu, Professor and HoD of Materia Medica at Sri Sairam Homoeopathic Medical College, spoke on the life and legacy of Hahnemann.

Dr. M. Prakash Rao, National Advisor of IIHP and Chief Guest, highlighted the scientific basis and growing acceptance of homoeopathy in India.

Following the commemorative session, a free homoeopathic medical camp was conducted exclusively for the residents of the old age home.

A team of senior doctors and faculty members provided consultations, conducted blood sugar screenings, and distributed medicines at no cost.

More than 40 elderly residents benefited from the initiative.

The programme also saw support from Vasan Eye Care Center, which offered free consultation coupons and discount cards to participants.
