Hyderabad Airport launches direct flights to Tashkent, expands Central Asia connectivity
Hyderabad, Sept. 29 (TNT): GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL) on Tuesday launched direct flight services between Hyderabad and Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, establishing a direct air link between South India and Central Asia.
The service, operated by Uzbekistan-based Centrum Air, will run twice a week, providing travellers from Telangana and neighbouring regions with direct connectivity to Uzbekistan and onward connections to other destinations in Central Asia, the Airport said in a release here.
The inaugural flight departed from Hyderabad Airport in the presence of senior officials from GHIAL, Centrum Air and other stakeholders.
Kadhir Kadhiravan, Chief Executive Officer of GHIAL, said the new route would strengthen South India’s international connectivity and create opportunities for business, tourism, education and cultural exchanges between India and Uzbekistan.
He said Hyderabad’s growing importance as a centre for technology, business, innovation and medical tourism had increased the need for direct international connections to emerging markets.
Abhishek Goyal, Executive Director and CEO of Aeroprime Group, said Hyderabad was an important addition to Centrum Air’s Indian network following its launch in Delhi.
He said the twice-weekly service would provide travellers from Telangana and surrounding regions with direct access to Tashkent and Central Asia.
With the addition of Tashkent, Hyderabad Airport’s network has expanded to 27 international destinations, alongside 74 domestic destinations, GHIAL said.
The new service is expected to facilitate passenger movement for business and leisure travel and strengthen trade, healthcare, tourism and cultural links between the two regions.
According to the published schedule, flight C6 552 will depart Hyderabad at 3.35 am on Tuesdays and Fridays and arrive in Tashkent at 7.45 am.
The return flight, C6 551, will depart Tashkent at 9.30 pm on Mondays and Thursdays and arrive in Hyderabad at 2.20 am the following day. All timings are local.
The launch marks Centrum Air’s first destination in South India.
